Live Q & A session for February.
Here is a summary of what we covered:
2:10 Caroline asked about – Overwhelming joy after crisis – love and joy on steroids I guess ?…oh and boundaries and self-care as an empath/highly sensitive person
Lisa talks about the over-thinking of this.
6:08 Lisa talks about how she has been feeling off and the little things that were giving her clues.
9:00 – Sarah asks: The universe is presenting me opportunities that just will not go away. There’s several that are calling me and I can probably explore, or do all of them (& I intend to) but I’m not sure how to prioritise them.
Lisa talks about how there is never a wrong or right answer, if you are given opportunities take them! What feels really GOOD? Think about which you would rather. Don’t overthink if it feels right.
12:00 – Christine mentions that she is doing a lot of work on her and is feeling great, although her husband is starting to trigger as he isn’t feeling very high. Christine asks for advice on how to gently support him, and if she knew anyone who talks about mindset in a male language.
Lisa talks through an extended answer about the things she has experienced with Nick, how men operate differently, and how to focus on our own growth as women (an the impact that can have on those around you).
Some great people to check out for Men’s mindset:
Lewis Howes – School of Greatness
Kate suggested The Angry Therapist
Bryan Ward – https://thirdwayman.com/about/
Alain de Botton – https://www.theschooloflife.com
20:00 – Maria is having trouble keeping on track with food, and just getting started. She would like to start baking more from scratch for her kids but she doesn’t think she has the time.
Lisa talks through what her family and kids eat. That you don’t have to be fancy to eat real food. And suggests focussing on herself right now.
Lisa also mentions a new format that is coming for the meal plans next month.
26:00 – A Question from Jacqui: Responsibility (as Jim uses that word) – I know it’s a massive life changer but still find myself having internal tantrums … along the lines of I’ve already got to be responsible for so many things, not that too! But of course I’m coming to understand that if I don’t have what I want in my life, it’s because I haven’t been responsible in that area. It gets a lot more convoluted when it involves family members though.
Lisa talks about no-one else is responsible for making us feel good, and the constant choices that are available to us.
28:00 – Lisa talks about ‘Body Talk’ and how it is coming to Small Steps members next month!
36:00 – Karen asks Lisa what books she is currently reading, and Lisa mentions; Becoming by Michelle Obama and Florence Scoval Shinn
38:00 – Shawna talks about that she has been very distant, because I’m tired & have had so much going on personally, that I’ve had to create boundaries to cope.
44:00 – Amber reached out to Lisa asking for any practical tips for stopping the mind chatter/overwhelm and to focus on the present.
Lisa talks about the mental load of parenting or early motherhood and mentions a few strategies she uses to start her day off on a positive note, before the kids wake up.
