I talk about Small Steps ‘Life Matters’. While we can learn all about food – if we are not making tweaks to our mindset we will keep on repeating old patterns of behaviour. This session will give you tips and tools that I have used to help me stay on the wholefoods path and change my habits – without stress and overwhelm.
Here’s a summary of what was covered if you are short on time or want to forward to a particular topic:
Giving ourselves permission to celebrate ourselves.
Being kind to yourself when you decide you want to make changes or upgrade area’s of your life.
5.40: Perfection tendencies and comparisonitis. Know that you can loosen your grip on this and that it doesn’t make you failure or a lesser person.
9.00: Overcoming Overwhelm – Juggling all the balls of life and the difference between the glass balls (that have to stay up) and the rubber balls that bounce and are ok to drop if you need.
14.30: Simplification and a reminder that food doesn’t have to be complicated for example ‘have an egg have a meal’. Have your staple meals that you know you can whip up easily and fall back on. Nail the basics.
18.30: Think of what your grandmother would cook.
20.40: Jude Blereau and giving ourselves permission to take time to making improvements with food. It takes a few years to find suppliers, understand how to use different ingredients etc. Its just like going through an apprenticeship, learning over time!
25.00: Coming up soon we’ll be adding a ‘Resources’ section to the membership site with simple cheatsheets and ‘spotlight’ on different ingredients.
26.30: A simple step is to make a meal 1 night that lasts for 2 nights. Brainstorm a few idea’s for these kinds of meals – think about how can you make it easier for yourself.
27.47: Reminder that we are whole people and there are different times when different things are going on and we go through phases of doing things (like getting out.
29.40: Our overloaded brains and Tapping EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). This is great for mental clarity. It lights up your brain – sometimes when your brain is feeling muddled, an exercise like this can help you calm and clear your thoughts.
37.00: Stress can un-do all the work you do around food if you are always in fight or flight mode.
40.00: A few updates on the membership and upcoming content.
43.45: Megan asked about high cortisol levels in ourselves and children.
47.50: Jeanette asked about doing things ‘wrong’ and how this then snowballs.
51.50: Kelly and Brooke asked about using less sugar and decreasing the amount used in baking. Also those habits of reaching for chocolate or icecream.
53.45: Lisa talks about will power.
58.28: Kelley asked about eating more real foods without spending a lot of money as whole foods seem so expensive.
